Game Recap

The Owosso Trojans traveled to Kearsley as they took on the Hornets in conference play. The match took a full five sets to decide, and given the tremendous effort put forth by the Trojans, it was not enough as they fell 11-25, 25-18, 25-22, 14-25, 12-25. Leading performers for the Trojans included:

The Trojans return home for their final conference match on Tuesday, October 24, hosting Linden. Junior Varsity and Freshman play begins at 5pm with Varsity action to follow.

Meet Recap

The Owosso Girls Swim and Dive took on the Corunna Cavaliers team Tuesday night. The Trojans started the night by honoring Seniors Jessa Baumdraher, Mallory Irelan, Emma Schwab, Sidney Voss, Bailey Warner and Lindsey Woodworth. This group has accomplished some impressive achievements for the Trojans. They were an important part in last year’s conference championship team and have led this year’s team to a 7-1. They are on track this season to have the best ever win-loss record by a Trojan swim team. They have scored the most points ever by an Owosso swim team racking up 149 points in a meet. This team has already broken 4 school records and their fastest times are yet to come. The team hopes to break all those records and more at the conference meet in two weeks.
The meet tonight saw a Corunna team that is much improved from last year but Owosso’s talent and depth once again earned them the win, improving the Trojans record to 8-1 on the season. The Trojans took first in 10 of 12 events and Owosso won the meet 115-69. One of the highlights of the night was Katie Clevenger breaking the school record for the second time this season. Owosso has one more regular season meet at Swartz Creek on Tuesday. Swartz Creek and Owosso are tied for second place in the Flint Metro League.
In the first event the medley relay the team of Allie Pumford, Faith Gates, Lily Espinoza and Jessa Baumdraher got the win for the Trojans. In the 200 free Sidney Voss raced to a 1st place finish, Marissa Spalding was 3rd and Lindsey Woodworth was 5th . In event 3 the IM Lily Espinoza kept things rolling earning the win with Erika Ochodnicky finishing 3rd and Lily Davis was 4th . In the 50 free the Trojans took the top 2 places with Mallory Irelan coming in 1st, Allie Pumford 2nd and Jessa Baumdraher came in 6th. In diving Katie Clevenger broke the school record for the second time in two week and finished 1st with a score of 242.15 and Faith Gates was 3rd. In the butterfly Irelan won her 2nd event with Madison Livingston and Vanessa Bowers turning in great swims. In the 100 free Allie Pumford raced to the wall finishing 1st, Rachel Dahl was 2nd and Alexis Chamberlin was 4th. Event 8 was the 500 free. Sidney Voss swam well and placed 3rd while Maddy Kregger took 4th and Jessa Baumdraher was 5th. In the 200 free relay Espinoza, Dahl, Ochodnicky and Livingston finished 1st and the team of Kregger, Taylor, Woodworth, Schwab came in 3rd. In the backstroke Alexis Chamberlin came in 2nd with Lily Davis taking 3rd and Lauren Taylor was 5th. In event 11 the breaststroke Espinoza earned Owosso another 1st place finish, Ochodnicky was 2nd and Livingston came in 4th. In the last event the all senior team of Woodworth, Voss, Baumdraher and Irelan took 3rd while the team of Dahl, Kregger, Schwab and Pumford earned Owosso their 10th first place.

Game Recap

Owosso HS Trojans boys soccer lost to Flint Metro Rival Holly 1-0 tonight at Holly. Holly outshot Owosso 18-9. Brendan Ihm had a spectacular game in goal for Owosso and kept the Trojans in it for most of the game.

The loss eliminates the Trojans from the District bracket. Owosso ended the season with a 9-8-3 record.

The first half ended in a 0-0 tie. Both teams had opportunities but couldn’t capitalize. In the 41′ Holly’s striker Caleb Fogelsong scored to put the Bronchos up 1-0.

Adam Dahl had 3 shots for Owosso, Sam Roose had 2 and Dakota Byles, Noah Jafri, Riece Shattuck and Zach Crane had the other shots for Owosso.

It was a great season with many ups and downs for this young Trojans team.

Game Recap

The Owosso Trojans traveled to Laingsburg for the Tournament of Champions where they faced multiple opponents. To start the day in pool play they faced host school, Laingsburg, dropping two sets 8-25 and 14-25. Next in pool play the Trojans faced Traverse City St. Francis who they fell to in two sets, 12-15 and 12-25. Rounding out pool play action, the Trojans faced Northpoint Christian who they fell to in two sets 10-25 and 13-25. The morning’s action landed the Trojans in the Silver Bracket where they faced off with Croswell-Lexington. Despite the effort given by all, the Trojans couldn’t find the momentum they needed as they fell 15-25 and 9-25 to finish the day. Top performers are as follows by match:
