BASEBALL PORTLAND INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONS! – The Owosso Varsity Baseball team battled back in game 1 of the Portland Invitational Tournament to earn a 14-12 victory over Charlotte Saturday. Carson Socia started on the mound for the Trojans, throwing 3 innings, scattering 6 hits and striking out 3. Joey Wagner commanded the last 4 innings, earning the win and giving up 4 hits while striking out 5 Charlotte hitters. Jordan Klapko led the Trojan offense going 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and 5 RBI’s. Luke Wheeler was 2 for 2 with a double and a single with 2 RBI’s. John Wheeler was 2 for 5 with a single and double and Chris Carmody, Dan Clevenger, and Tyler VanEffen all singled for the Trojans. // Championship Game // The Owosso Varsity Baseball team earned a hard fought victory over Portland, 2-1 in the championship game of the Portland Spring Sports Carnival Invitational Baseball Tournament on Saturday. Joey Wagner started on the mound for the Trojans, pitching 3 and 1/3 innings, giving up 2 hits and striking out 2. Taylor Lamrouex pitched the final 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 4 Portland batters while earning the victory. Jordan Klapko scored both runs for the Trojans and was 2 for 3 with 2 singles. Dan Clevenger was 1 for 3 and doubled in the 1st inning, scoring Klapko. John Wheeler and Luke Wheeler both singled for the Trojans. The Trojans record for the season improved to 5-13.

Fell to Clio 0-14, 3-10 – The Owosso Varsity Baseball team lost to Clio 14-0 after errors doomed the Trojans in the 3rd inning. Luke Wheeler and Colin Drury pitched well for the Trojans, with Wheeler throwing 3 innings and Drury pitching the final 2 innings. Dan Clevenger was 2 for 2 for the Trojans with 2 singles. Jordan Klapko and Taylor Lamrouex both had singles for the Trojans in the loss. // GAME 2 // The Owosso Varsity Baseball team battled in game 2, but fell short to Clio, 10-3. John Wheeler started on the mound for the Trojans and pitched well, throwing 4 innings. Nick Prater pitched the final 3 innings for the Trojans. The Trojans managed 5 hits in game 2 with Dan Clevenger going 2 for 4 with 2 singles and Nick Prater, Tyler VanEffen, and Taylor Lamrouex all singling for the Trojans. Chris Carmody had 3 walks and scored a run for the Trojans. The Trojans record is now 5-15.

Fell to Flushing 0-8 and 8-13 – The Owosso Varsity Baseball team lost 8-0 to Flushing after they pulled away late in Game 1 of a Flint Metro League contest on Thursday. Joey Wagner started on the mound for the Trojans and pitched 4 strong innings before giving way to Taylor Lamrouex for the final 2 innings. The Trojans managed only 1 hit, a single by Dan Clevenger in the 6th inning. // GAME 2 // The Owosso Varsity Baseball team got down early and battled back in game 2, but fell short to Flushing 13-8. Chris Carmody started on the mound for the Trojans and pitched 2 innings. Nick Prater gutted out 3 innings for the Trojans, helping them get back into the game and Taylor Lamrouex pitched the final inning for the Trojans. Jordan Klapko singled twice for the Trojans and Luke Wheeler and Spencer Wilkinson both doubled. Dan Clevenger, Joey Wagner, and Tyler VanEffen all singled for the Trojans. The Trojans drop to 5-17 on the season.

GOLF Owosso 203-Clio 218 – The Trojans defeated Clio on Monday at the Owosso Country Club by a score of 203-218. The Trojans were led by Mitchell Fisher with a 49. Also scoring for the Trojans were:

Andrew Bueche – 53

Owosso 193, Kearsley 198 – The Trojans went to the Flint Elks to take on the Kearsley Hornets tonight and defeated the Hornets by a score of 193-198. Braden Horn came within half a foot of making an ace on the 151 yard par 3 and tapped in the putt for his first birdie in competition this year. Parker Omer shot a career low 47 while stringing three pars in a row in the round today.

The Trojans were lead once again by senior Colton Koepplinger with a 46 followed by Omers 47. Braden Horn and Mitchell Fisher both shot 50 to round out the scoring. It was a great team effort tonight as the JV also won their match against Kearsley. The Trojans will host Linden this Monday in the final dual match of the Flint Metro League Season. It will be senior night as we honor the seniors who have contributed to golf program during their time at OHS.

SOCCER (GIRLS) Owosso 0, Flushing 8 – We suffered a tough loss, tonight, at Flushing. Our opponent controlled the full 80 minutes with quick passing combinations the entire game. Strong play was shown by Allison Perry and Claudia Drake. Tonight was a tough one, but look to bump back for Thursday’s home game against Lansing Everett. Owosso Record: 2-6 (0-5). Flushing Record: 6-0-2 (3-0-2). Owosso Shots: 2; Flushing Shots: 36. Owosso Keeper Izzey Newbury: 20 saves.

SOFTBALL Fell to Clio 3-17, 0-4 – Owosso Trojans Varsity Can’t Catch Up To Clio. Owosso Trojans Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 17-3 loss to Clio on Monday. The Owosso Trojans Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Clio, giving up 17 runs. Maegan Jodway took the loss for Owosso Trojans Varsity. She went three innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking one. Owosso Trojans Varsity racked up eight hits on the day. Mallory Irelan, Brooke Hemker, and Grace Miller all managed multiple hits for Owosso Trojans Varsity. // GAME 2 // Clio Captures Lead Early To Defeat Owosso Trojans Varsity. Owosso Trojans Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 4-0 loss to Clio on Monday. Clio took the lead on a groundout in the first inning. A single by Madyson Rainey in the second inning was a positive for Owosso Trojans Varsity. Maegan Jodway took the loss for Owosso Trojans Varsity. She went seven innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, striking out eight and walking one. Nevaeh Ginger, Rainey, Tabitha Elliott, and Jodway each collected one hit to lead Owosso Trojans Varsity.

Split with Flushing 3-6 and 12-1 – Flushing Runs Away With Early Lead In Victory. Owosso Trojans Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-3 loss to Flushing on Thursday. Owosso Trojans Varsity lost despite out-hitting Flushing 12 to seven. Jodway took the loss for Owosso Trojans Varsity. She allowed seven hits and six runs over six innings, striking out eight. Owosso Trojans Varsity racked up 12 hits on the day. Mallory Irelan, Grace Miller, and Nevaeh Ginger each had multiple hits for Owosso Trojans Varsity. Irelan went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Owosso Trojans Varsity in hits. // GAME 2 // Owosso Trojans Varsity Blows Out Flushing. Owosso Trojans Varsity easily did away with Flushing 12-1 on Thursday. In the first inning, Owosso Trojans Varsity got their offense started when Grace Miller doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs. Owosso Trojans Varsity put up three runs in the second inning. Owosso Trojans Varsity big bats were led by Mallory Irelan and Miller, who all drove in runs.

Maegan Jodway took the win for Owosso Trojans Varsity. She surrendered one run on three hits over six innings, striking out three and walking zero. Owosso Trojans Varsity totaled 15 hits in the game. Irelan, Allie Langdon, Tabitha Elliott, Brooke Hemker, and Jodway all managed multiple hits for Owosso Trojans Varsity. Elliott, Langdon, and Irelan all had three hits to lead Owosso Trojans Varsity.

TRACK & FIELD (BOYS) – On Wednesday night, the Owosso boys track and field team lost to Flushing 105-32 and lost 72-64 to Holly in a meet that came down to the 4×400 meter relay. Scoring performances included: Doug Patterson – took 1st against Holly in the 100 meter dash with a PR time of 12.09. Hunter Blaha – took 1st against Holly and 2nd against Flushing in the 200 meter dash with a PR time of 23.94. Andrew Convery – took 3rd against Flushing and Holly in the 200 meter dash with a SR time of 24.69. Mason Collard – took 3rd against Flushing and Holly in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.29; he also took 2nd against Holly and 3rd against Flushing in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:55.62. Connor Madsen – took 3rd against Holly in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:23.18. Jorden Sowash – took 1st against Holly and Flushing

in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:40.36; he also took 1st against Holly and 2nd against Flushing in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:48.06. Sam Marcotte – took 1st against Holly and 2nd against Flushing in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.88; he also took 1st against Holly and 2nd against Flushing in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.15; he also took 1st against Holly and 2nd against Flushing in the discus with a PR throw of 124’0.Max Grettenberger – took 3rd against Holly in the shot put with a PR throw 38’0.Jhakab Hickey – took 3rd in the discus with a throw of 100’5. Eddie Mishler – took 2nd in the high jump with a PR height of 5’6. Jacob LePain – took 1st against Holly and Flushing in the pole vault with a height of 12’6. Andrew Bushard – took 2nd against Holly and Flushing in the pole vault with a PR height of 11’0. Kaleb Anderson – took 1st against Holly and 3rd against Flushing in the long jump with a distance of 17’6.25. The 4×200 meter relay team of Doug Patterson, Andrew Convery, Jalen Waters, and Hunter Blaha took 1st against Holly with a time of 1:40.10.

TRACK & FIELD (GIRLS) – We traveled to Flushing to compete in our final regular season double dual track meet against Flushing and Holly. After a great evening of competition, we came away with a win against Holly (90-47) and a loss to Flushing (51-86). That puts our final regular season record at 5-3 in the conference. After only winning 1 conference dual meet in the past 3 years combined, we are having a great season and the program is heading in the right direction. We look forward to trying to advance our position in the league standings in a couple weeks at the Flint Metro championship, but first have our sights set on regionals next Friday. We have a lot of athletes close to the state qualifying standards and we hope to punch as many tickets as possible. Individually, we had a lot of great performances today. Mirranda Libbey – 1st to Flushing and 3rd to Holly in the 800 (2:37.02), 3rd in the 1600 (5:44.49), and 2nd in the 3200 (12:46.23). Katie Clevenger – 1st to Holly and 2nd to Flushing in the 300 hurdles (49.11), 2nd to Holly and 3rd to Flushing in high jump (4′ 6″). McKenna Sovis – 1st to Flushing and 3rd to Holly in the 100 hurdles (18.35). Madison Livingston – 1st in discus (93′ 10.5″), 1st to Holly and 2nd to Flushing in shot put (29′ 4″). Veronica Cechanowicz – 1st to Holly and 3rd to Flushing in pole vault (8′). Molly Hart – 1st against Holly in long jump 14′ 1″) and 3rd in the 100 to Holly (13.91). Lexi Martenis – 2nd against Holly in long jump (14′ 1″) and 2nd in the 100 (13.71). Malyrie Montroy – 2nd in the 200 (27.85) and tied for 2nd to Holly in pole vault (7′). Hannah Ardelean – 2nd to Holly and 3rd to Flushing in shot put (28′ 6″) and 3rd to Holly in discus (62′ 02″). Sharna Butcher – 2nd to Holly and 3rd to Flushing in discus (66′ 4.5″) and 3rd to Holly in high jump (4′ 4″). Allie Pumford – tied for 2nd to Holly in pole vault (7′). Janae Voss – 3rd in the 200 to Holly (28.89) and 3rd against Holly in long jump (12′ 9.5″). Emma Perry – 3rd in the 3200 to Holly (14:17.25)

. Our 4x100m relay team of Katie Clevenger, Malyrie Montroy, Lexi Martenis and Molly Hart took 1st place (52.11). Our 4x200m relay team of Lexi Martenis, Molly Hart, Janae Voss and Malyrie Montroy beat Holly (1:56.27). Our 4x800m relay team of Allie Pumford, Maria Stuart, Emma Perry and Lynnae Gilman beat Holly (12:50.75). 

TENNIS Second Place at the (Owosso) Steck Invitational – Owosso hosted their annual Steck Invitational competing with Durand, Lansing Eastern and Kearsley. There was a great day of tennis

that tested everyone’s endurance. At the end of the day it was Durand on top with 1st place finishes at 6 flights, followed by Owosso who won the 2nd doubles flight (Hufnagel and Brainerd) and had four second place finishes in other flights.

Owosso 4, Fenton 4 – Match winners for the Trojans were: Alyssa Parsons (#4 singles) 6-0, 6-1; Danielle Gregoricka/Lindsey Woodworth (#1 doubles) 6-3, 6-2; Martina Biasini/Hannah Coburn (#2 doubles) 6-0, 6-1; Abigail Brainerd/Josie Hufnagel (#3 doubles) 6-2, 6-2.

Owosso 0, Holly 8

Owosso 6, Corunna 2 – The Trojans completed this week of match play with a convincing win at home against rival Corunna. The Trojans won at 2nd and 4th singles and swept the doubles flights. Next week we are back on the courts against Everett before heading off to regionals.
