 BASEBALL – Drop 2 to Swartz Creek 6-16, 2-7 – The Owosso Varsity Baseball team lost game 1 to Swartz Creek 16-6 in a Flint Metro League game. Carson Socia started on the mound for the Trojans and threw 2 innings, Joey Wagner pitched 2 innings, and Colin Dury pitched the final 2 innings for the Trojans. Chris Carmody had 2 hits with a single and a double along with 1 RBI and scored 2 runs. Luke Wheeler also had 2 hits for the Trojans with a single and a double. Dan Clevenger and Nick Prater both singled and Frederick Porter had 1 RBI, rounding out the Trojan offense. // GAME 2 // The Trojans battled in game 2, but eventually fell short, losing 7-2 to Swartz Creek. Luke Wheeler started on the mound for the Trojans, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings before Joey Wagner pitched the final out for the Trojans. Jordan Klapko had 2 hits for the Trojans with a single and a double. John Wheeler also had 2 hits, both singles. Chris Carmody and Luke Wheeler both singled for the Trojans. The Trojans record is now 3-11 for the season.

GOLF – Owosso 209, Brandon 178 – The Trojans fell to Brandon tonight at Pine Knob by a score of 178-209. The Trojans were led by Colton Koepplinger with a 49. Also scoring for the Trojans was Braden Horn (51), Parker Omer (54), and Josiah Balsley (55) in his first varsity match.

Owosso 204, Swartz Creek 176 – The Trojans fell to Swartz Creek today at the Owosso Country Club by a score of 176 to 204. Colton Koepplinger lead the Trojans with a season best 45. Colton strung together pars on holes 4, 5, 6, and 7 during the round. Also scoring for the Trojans were Mitchell FIsher (51), Braden Horn (53), and Joshiah Balsley (55). The Trojans play saw improvement today and are now looking improve on our consistency from hole to hole.

SOCCER (GIRLS) – Owosso 0, Swartz Creek 6 – Owosso came out flat tonight and lacked intensity throughout the entire game. The team looks forward to get back to the physical play shown during the previous Fenton game. League play continues Thursday at Brandon. Owosso Record: 2-4 (0-3)

SOFTBALL – Drop 2 to Swartz Creek 1-2, 7-10 – Owosso Trojans Varsity Goes Down on Final Play Against Swartz Creek. A walk-off left Owosso Trojans Varsity on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat to Swartz Creek on Monday. The game was tied at one with Swartz Creek batting in the bottom of the tenth when P Rainwater doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. The pitching was strong on both sides. Swartz Creek pitchers struck out ten, while Owosso Trojans Varsity sat down ten. Swartz Creek got things started in the second inning when N Oldrham’s sac fly scored one run for Swartz Creek. In the top of the sixth inning, Owosso Trojans Varsity tied things up at one when Allie Langdon singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. R Mackey pitched Swartz Creek to victory. She lasted ten innings, allowing six hits and one run while striking out ten. Maegan Jodway took the loss for Owosso Trojans Varsity. She surrendered two runs on six hits over nine innings, striking out ten. Mallory Irelan led Owosso Trojans Varsity with two hits in four at bats.

// GAME 2 // Owosso Trojans Varsity Falls To Swartz Creek After Sixth Inning Score. Owosso Trojans Varsity lost the lead late in a 10-7 defeat to Swartz Creek on Monday. The game was tied at seven with Swartz Creek batting in the bottom of the sixth when an error scored one run for Swartz Creek.
Owosso Trojans Varsity collected seven hits and Swartz Creek had 11 in the high-scoring affair. In the first inning, Owosso Trojans Varsity got their offense started when an error scored one run for Owosso Trojans Varsity. Swartz Creek scored five runs in the third inning. Swartz Creek’s big inning was driven by a single by R Scofield and a home run by J Verran. R Mackey pitched Swartz Creek to victory. She went seven innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and striking out two. Maegan Jodway took the loss for Owosso Trojans Varsity. She surrendered ten runs on 11 hits over five and a third innings, striking out six and walking one. Owosso Trojans Varsity collected seven hits. Allie Langdon and Tabitha Elliott each had multiple hits for Owosso Trojans Varsity. Elliott and Langdon all had two hits to lead Owosso Trojans Varsity. Swartz Creek had 11 hits in the game. Verran and S Scott all had multiple hits for Swartz Creek. Verran led Swartz Creek with three hits in four at bats.

TRACK & FIELD (BOYS) – The Owosso boys track and field team lost to Kearsley 55-82, but beat Clio 80-57 on Monday.  Scoring performances against both teams included: Doug Patterson – Took 1st against Clio and 3rd against Kearsley in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.32. Hunter Blaha – Took 2nd against Kearsley and 1st Clio in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.81. Jalen Waters – Took 2nd against Clio and 3rd against Kearsley in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.92, as well as 1st against Clio and 2nd against Kearsley with a distance of 18’0. Mason Collard – Took 1st against Clio and 2nd against Kearsley in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.78, as well as 2nd against Kearsley and 3rd against Clio in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:20.52. James Knepp – Took 3rd against Clio and Kearsley in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.46. Brendan Gute – Took 2nd against Clio and 3rd against Kearsley in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:26.89. Jorden Sowash – Took 1st against Clio and Kearsley in the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run with a time of 4:56.15 and 10:40.81 respectively. Connor Spencer – Took 3rd against Clio and Kearsley in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:19.80. Sam Marcotte – Took 1st in the 110-meter hurdles against Clio and 2nd against Kearsley with a time of 18.03 as well as 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles against Clio and Kearsley with a time of 45.10, as well as 1st against Clio and 3rd against Kearsley in the discus with a throw of 107’2. John Kulhanek – Took 1st against Clio and 2nd against Kearsley in the shot put with a throw of 40’4. Max Grettenberger – Took 2nd against Clio in the shot put with a throw of 35’6. Eddie Mishler – Took 2nd against Clio and Kearsley in the high jump with a height of 5’4. Doug Patterson – Took 3rd against Clio and Kearsley in the high jump with a height of 5’4. Jacob LePain – Took 1st in the pole vault against Clio and Kearsley with a height of 13’0. Andrew Bushard – Took 2nd in the pole vault against Clio and Kearsley with a height of 10’6. Kaleb Anderson – Took 2nd against Clio and 3rd against Kearsley in the long jump with a distance of 17’2.25. The 4×100-meter relay team of Hunter Blaha, Andrew Convery, Doug Patterson, and Jalen Waters took 1st against both Clio and Kearsley with a time of 46.58.

Owosso Boys Beat Brandon on the Last Event

The Owosso boys track and field team split with Swartz Creek (47-88) and Brandon (73-64) on Wednesday night.  The meet with Brandon came down to the mile relay, winner take all, the boys ran a PR time to finish the victory!  Scoring performances included: Andrew Convery – Took 3rd against Brandon in the 100-meter dash that was untimed. Hunter Blaha – Took 3rd against Brandon in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.63. Mason Collard – Took 2nd against Brandon in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.50, as well as 2nd against Brandon and 3rd against Swartz Creek in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:00.01. Brendan Gute – Took 3rd against Brandon in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.70. Jorden Sowash – Took 1st against Swartz Creek and Brandon with a time of 4:49.86. Tyler Arriaga – Took 2nd against Brandon and 3rd against Swartz Creek in the 3200-meter run with a time of 11:51.34. Sam Marcotte – Took 1st against Swartz Creek and 2nd against Brandon in the 110-meter hurdles that were untimed, as well as 1st against Swartz Creek and Brandon in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.40, finished 1st against Brandon and 3rd against Swartz Creek with a throw of 103’4. John Kulhanek – Took 1st against Brandon and 3rd against Swartz Creek in the shot put with a throw of 37’4.5. Max Grettenberger – Took 3rd against Brandon in the shot put with a throw of 34’1. Jakob Doerfner – Took 2nd against Brandon in the discus 96’3. Eddie Mishler – Took 2nd against Brandon and 3rd in the Swartz Creek in the high jump with a height 5’0. Jacob LePain – Took 1st against Brandon and Swartz Creek in the pole vault with a height of 10’6. Andrew Bushard – Took 2nd against Brandon and Swartz Creek in the pole vault with a height of 10’0. Kaleb Anderson – Took 1st against Swartz Creek and 2nd against Brandon in the long jump with a distance of 18’0. Jalen Waters – Took 2nd against Swartz Creek and 3rd against Brandon in the long jump with a distance of 17’8.5. The 4×100 and 4×200-meter relay teams of Hunter Blaha, Andrew Convery, Jalen Waters, and Doug Patterson took 1st against Brandon with a time of 46.70, and 1st against Brandon and Swartz Creek with a time of 1:37.98. The 4×400-meter relay team of Hunter Blaha, Kaleb Anderson, Jacob LePain, and Mason Collard took 1st against Brandon and Swartz Creek with a PR time of 3:46.39. The 4×800-meter relay team of Mason Collard, Brendan Gute, Connor Spencer, Brendan Gute took 1st against Brandon with a time of 9:28.00. The boys will be running at the Corunna True Team Invite on Friday, May 4th at 3 PM.

TRACK & FIELD (GIRLS) – Owosso traveled to the 2nd Annual Chesaning Track and Field Classic on Friday night. After working really hard for the first half of the season, some of our girls were experiencing some aches and pains and we decided to minimize most athletes workload as a result. Therefore, we were only able to finish in 8th place out of 12 teams, but still had a few awesome performances. If that doesn’t say it all, how about her 1st place finish in the 3200 by 15 full seconds over 2nd place! She continues to improve and impress every time she steps on the track. How about senior captain Kaitlyn Owens and her 6 second PR in the 1600, less than one second from top seeded, division 3 all-state Klaudia O’Malley of McBain. Madison Livingston earned a 4th place medal in shot put (29’) to go along with her 6th place discus toss of 85’6”. Molly Hart finished 2 places above her seed, earning a 5th place finish in the 100 and a season record time of 13.58 on a day when only 8 out of the 27 finishers managed a season or personal record time. Katie Clevenger and Emma Smith didn’t have their best day in high jump, but still managed to finish in 5th and 8th place respectively (4’6” and 4’4”). Lexi Martenis outjumped her previous best by 2” on her way to 7th place finish in the long jump (14’3”). Finally, Malyrie Montroy and Veronica Cechanowicz each vaulted 7’6”, with Malyrie finishing in 8th place over Veronica due to less misses at 7’.

Clio/Kearsley – Owosso hosted the make-up track meet between Clio, Kearsley and Owosso on Monday. Our girls ran really well and were able to come away with a pair of wins in the double dual meet. Individual Results: Molly Hart finished 1st to Clio and 2nd to Kearsley in the 100 (13.71), won long jump (13’0.5”), was a part of the winning 4×100 relay team (52.11) and 4×200 relay team (1:53.61). Kaitlyn Owens finished 1st to Clio and 2nd to Kearsley in the 400 (1:01.29), won the 1600 (6:02.64), and was a part of the winning 4×200 (1:53.61). Mirranda Libbey won the 800 (2:37.59) and was a part of the winning 4×800 (11:48.75). Emma Perry won the 3200 (15:01.37), took 2nd in the 1600 (6:34.33), finished 3rd to Kearsley in the 800 (3:11.48), and was a part of the winning 4×800 (11:48.75). McKenna Sovis won the 100 hurdles (18.75), took 2nd in the 300 hurdles as well as high jump (4’6”). Katie Clevenger won the 300 hurdles (51.35) and high jump (4’8”) and was a part of the winning 4×100 relay team (52.11).   Malyrie Montroy won pole vault (7’0”) and was a part of the winning 4×100 relay team (52.11). Lexi Martenis finished 2nd to Kearsley in long jump (11’11.5”), and was a part of the winning 4×200 (1:53.61) and 4×100 (52.11) relay teams. Madison Livingston took 2nd in shot put (28’2”), 1st to Clio and 3rd to Kearsley in discus (86’5”). Janae Voss finished 3rd to Kearsley in the 100 (14.33), 3rd to Kearsley in long jump (10’8”), and was a part of the winning 4×200 (1:53.61). Maria Stuart finished 3rd to Kearsley in the 200 (31.72) and was a part of the winning 4×800 (11:48.75). Lynnae Gilman finished 3rd to Kearsley in the 1600 (6:45.67) and was a part of the winning 4×800 (11:48.75). Allie Pumford took 2nd in pole vault (6’6”). Alaina Poggiali took 3rd in pole vault (6’). Emma Smith took 3rd in high jump (4’6). Hannah Ardelean took 2nd in discus to Clio (78’) and 3rd in shot put (27’2”).

TENNIS – Owosso 4, Swartz Creek 4 – The Trojans played hard, but had to settle for a tie in league action tonight. Brooke Edington and Alyssa Parsons won in straight sets in singles. Owosso also posted wins at 2nd doubles (Hannah Coburn and Martina Biasini) and 3rd doubles (Abigail Brainerd and Josie Hufnagel).

Owosso 3, Clio 5 – The Trojans came up short in a heated battle against the Clio Mustangs. Our 1st Doubles team of Lindsey Woodworth and Danielle Gregoricka posted their first win since the return of Gregoricka after an injury with an impressive 3 set victory 6-1, 2-6, 6-3. Additional wins were posted by our 2nd doubles (Biasini and Coburn) and 3rd doubles (Hufnagel and Brainerd).
