 BASKETBALL (BOYS) – Owosso 48, Brandon 51 – Carson Bornefeld led the Trojans tonight with 18 points. Jordan Klapko had another double-double scoring 12 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.

The Trojans had plenty of opportunities tonight but failed to convert. The Trojans shot 10 of 26 free throw line in the loss and 17 of 54 from the field. The Trojans pulled down 20 offensive rebounds but were only able to score four second chance points.  Andrew Dallas scored 8 points tonight and Nick Prater, seeing action in his first game back after missing the last five games scored 4 points and pulled down 5 rebounds.  Dylan Horn scored 3 points, Gerritt Springsdorf put in two points, and Zach Smith scored 1 point.

Owosso 52, Fenton 58 – Another tough loss for the Trojans tonight at the hands of Fenton. The Trojans were led by Jordan Klapko with 13 points tonight with Nick Prater, in his first full game since Swartz Creek eight games ago scoring a season high 12 points. Carson Bornefeld and Andrew Dallas both added 10 points for the Trojans. Zach Smith added six points and Cole Mallory added one point to round out the scoring.

BASKETBALL (GIRLS) – Owosso 44, Brandon 41 – Owosso overcame a late game surge by Brandon to win the conference match up 44-41. Anna Raffaelli’s 15 points helped lead Owosso beat Brandon for the second time this season. She also had 4 assists and 4 steals. Ashley Abrams added 10 points. Kayleigh Hemenway and Brooke Edington controlled the boards with 5 rebounds each. Along with Riane Ochodnicky’s 2-3s, she had 6 steals. Emma Hill of Brandon lead all scorers with 16, including 12/14 from the line. “It was nice to get the win. We were up 14 in the 4th quarter, but got careless with the ball. I am glad the team could keep it together at the end to pull out the win.” Coach Graham.

BOWLING (BOYS) – 2/3/18 1ST MATCH 9:30AM: Owosso Varsity Boys vs Swartz Creek. Baker games, 387-425, Total series 2349-2314. High Games: Collin Wood 226,224, Alex Triggs 216, Jhakab Hickey 191, Braden Triggs 175, Thomas Trecha 206, Brendan Coffman 200.😊  2ND MATCH 12:30:  Owosso Varsity Boys vs Flushing Boys won 19-11. Baker games, 368-415. Total series 2256-2245. High Games: Collin Wood 206, Alex Triggs 188, Thomas Trecha 221,223, Jhakab Hickey 177, Braden Triggs 187, Brendan Coffman 177.😊

BOWLING (GIRLS) – 2/3/18 Scores FIRST MATCH AT 9:30AM: Owosso Varsity Girls vs Swartz Creek won 16 1/2-13 1/2. Bakers 295-302. Total series 2043-1957. High games: Ashley Abrams 245, Laken Williamson 202, Shelby Gokee 200, Marissa Spalding 168, Raeanne Forrester 165.😊  2ND MATCH 12:30:  Owosso Girls vs Flushing tied 15)15. Bakers 379-351. Total series 2008-2013. High games: Laken Williamson 214, Shelby Gokee 186, Ashley Abrams 183, Aubree Irish 161, Marissa Spalding 159. Had to have a tie breaker. Down to the nitty gritty. 161,171 to 163,175. Flushing won. But a good game.

COMPETITIVE CHEER – Champions of the Chesaning Invitational with 703 points.

SWIM & DIVE (BOYS) –  Owosso 100, Brandon 75 – Owosso High School Swim & Dive sunk visiting Brandon on Senior night with a score of 100-75. Four-year varsity Swimmers and team captains Dan Hood, Brendan Gute and Mitchell Fisher joined senior swimmer Josh Wood on the podium celebrating their careers and accomplishments in the pool at Owosso. Starting out the night the 200 Medley relay team of Brendan Gute (back), Mitchell Fisher (breast), Parker Omer (fly) and Dan Hood (free) took 2nd place honors with a time of 2:04.46. Hood then went back to back in the 200 Freestyle and took 1st place with a time of 2:01.22, Luke Wheeler placed 3rs at 2:44.11. Brendan Gute then swam 2nd in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 41.39, Jorden Sowash was 3rd in 2:48.72. In the 50 Freestlye Parker Omer placed 2nd in 25.91 and Fisher went 3rd in 25.98.  In the diving events Fisher placed 1st with 239.65 points and Brandon Steinley 2nd with 201.05 points. In the 100 Butterfly Parker Omer placed 2nd in a 1:16.65. The 100 Freestlye saw Luke Wheeler take 1st with a 1:01.59. Hood then came back in the 500 Freestyle and placed 1st with a career best 5:27.33. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Wheeler, Raatz, Nathan Gute and Sowash then placed 2nd with a 1:58.26. In the 100 backstroke Nathan Gute took 2nd with a 1:31.14 and Tyler Hoag placed 3rd with a @;01.91. The 100 Breaststroke Sowash took 2nd with a 1:25.39 and in ending the night the 400 Freestyle Relay team of Hood, Omer, Fisher and Brendan Gute blazed to a 1st place showing in 3:50.65.

Owosso 76, Swartz Creek / Flushing 108 – In the final meet of the season Owosso Swim & Dive lost to host Swartz Creek/Flushing Swim Team 108-76 drooping Owosso’s record to 5-5. Starting out the night the 200 Medley Relay Team of Nathan Gute (back), Jorden Steinley, Luke Wheeler (fly) and Ross Raatz (free) took 3rd in 2:21.18. Dan Hood then took 1st in the 200 Freestyle at 2:01.64 and Garrett Hoag took 3rd in 2:16.11. In the 200 Individual Medley Brendan Gute took 3rd in 2:37.12. In the 50 Freestyle Parker Omer took 2nd in 26.09 and Mitchell Fisher was 3rd in 26.64. In the diving event Fisher took 2nd with 184.8 points and Brandon Steinley was 3rd in 172.45 points.  In the 100-yard Butterfly Dan Hood took 1st in 1:00.82. The 100 Freestyle had Garrett Hoag take 2nd in 58.59 and Luke Wheeler 1:02.73. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Brendan Gute, Fisher, Omer and Hood took 2nd in 1:44.37 and the team of Hoag, Raatz, Nathan Gute and Wheeler took 3rd in 1:56.86. In the 100 Backstroke Brendan Gute took 1st in 1:16.06 and Luke Wheeler was 3rd in 1:21.42. In the 400 Freestyle Relay Team of Hood, Omer, Fisher and Brendan Gute took 1st in 3:57.23.

WRESTLING – Travelling to Gaylord this Saturday for the MHSAA Individual District tournament.
