With well deserved beautiful running weather, 5 out of 7 of our Owosso girls were able to post career best times. 2 of our boys also hit their best mark, while three more had season best times. Kaitlyn Owens continues to impress during her senior season finishing 11th overall and 4th in the medium schools division. With a week and a half until our next competition, we look forward to being able to train hard and show off new PR’s in a couple weeks.

FOOTBALL – Jayden Guru led the team on both sides of the ball Friday as the owosso defense held Flushing to their lowest yardage output of the year, however 6 Owosso turnovers (which led to 6 Flushing scores) were too much to overcome. Guru led by example, shaking off big hits, showing the kind of toughness that we are working to instill.

GOLF (GIRLS’) – Owosso 198 , Chesaning 256 – Postponed until Wednesday Oct 4th. We traveled to Chesaning tonight to play the Indian girls. We came home with the win as Morgan Hebekeuser being the medalist shooting a 45, Hannah Ardelean-50, Kennedy Krantz-51, and Izzey Newbury-52., ending our overall record to 6-6. We travel to Fenton Farms for the third time this year for regionals next Wednesday Oct 11.

SOCCER (BOYS’) – Owosso 2, Clio 2 – Owosso Trojans Boys Soccer tied Clio 2-2 at Willman Field. Owosso outshot Clio 18-9. Owosso’s record is 8-6-1 and 0-5-1 in conference play. Sam Roose led the Trojans with a goal and an assist and 9 shots. Colin Drury had the other goal for Owosso and Jacob Wood also contributed with an assist. Colin Drury scored on a rebound off of a shot by Sam Roose in the sixth minute. Clio countered with a goal in the 28’. Roose scored on a pass from Jacob Wood in the 34’. Owosso led 2-1 at half. Clio ties the game on a PK in the 50’.

Owosso 0, Kearsley 0 – Owosso Trojans played to a 0-0 tie va conference rivals Kearsley. Owosso’s record is now 8-6-2 and 0-5-2 in conference. Brendan Ihm had his 8th shutout of the season.  Both teams had many chances in this hard fought battle.

Owosso 3, Corunna 0 – Owosso Trojans Boys Soccer defeated their rival Corunna Cavaliers 3-0. Owosso outshot Corunna 19-5 in a dominant performance. Keeper Brendan Ihm recorded his ninth shutout of the season as the Trojans improved to 9-6-2 on the season. Owosso controlled play for most of the game and scored when Michael Snow buried a rebound off of a great shot by Sam Roose in the 31st minute. Eight minutes later in the 39′ Parker Omer curled a beautiful corner kick that came out to Nolan Thews-Aguirre. Nolan buried the shot in the upper left corner with a well placed left footer. Gilby Lentz had a great opportunity on a free kick just inside the box but Owosso’s keeper Ihm made a great diving save on Corunna’s best chance to score. The game went into halftime with Owosso leading 2-0. In the second half Owosso kept pressing and finally in the 74′ off of a rocket shot by Sam Roose on a free kick outside the box was mishandled by the keeper Colin Drury pounced on the rebound and buried it into the Corunna goal. Owosso’s defensive line of Trajan Smith, Zach Crane, Parker Omer and Jacob Wood was on point all night and did a great job of helping Brendan Ihm get his 9th shutout of the season. Owosso hosts Linden next Tuesday at Willman Field.
