A strong defensive effort in the second half propelled the Trojans to a 44-36 win over visiting Mason. The Trojans held the visiting Bulldogs to 10 points in the second half as the Bulldogs did not make a field goal after the 6:08 mark of the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs scored their last points at the 5:08 mark on a pair of free throws. Meanwhile the Trojans ended the game on an 11-0 run to pull out the victory.
The Trojans got off to a quick start with Jordan Klapko hitting a 3-point shot 10 seconds into the game. The Trojans built a lead of 10-4 only to have the Bulldogs cut the lead to two at the end of the quarter. The Bulldogs went on a 10-0 run to start the second quarter and built a commanding 26-18 lead to end the quarter. The third quarter saw the Bulldogs build their lead to 29-18 when the Trojans slowly fought their way back into the game and cut the lead to four points at the end of the third quarter.The Trojans took the lead 38-36 with 3:30 left when Jakob Ackley had a shot blocked but got his own rebound and scored on a good effort put back. The win was not secured until the :35 second mark when Gerritt Springsdorf came up with a big defensive rebound and Drake Nover was fouled and Drake made both free throws to give the Trojans a three possession lead at 43-36.
The Trojans will play Waverly at Owosso in a rescheduled game on Tuesday.
