CROSS COUNTRY – Flint Metro League Jamboree 1

Owosso Cross Country’s first Flint Metro Jamboree boasted strong performances from the girls team, as Kaitlyn Owens finally broke the 20-minute barrier for the first time in her career. As times continue to drop for the girls’ team anticipation continues to mount for another successful season. Although the boys’ team struggled tonight, the season outlook still looks very promising. The team is focused and determined to show breakout performances at this Saturday’s Bath Invitational.

FOOTBALL – Owosso 12, Holly 61 – Jhakab Hickey and Dakota Garrison each had 7 tackles for the defense. Senior Andrew Convery continued racking up yardage from the backfield, carrying the ball 15 times for 139 yards and a TD. He also had one catch for 23 yards.

GOLF (GIRLS’) – Owosso 222, Swartz Creek 198 – The Trojans hosted Swartz Creek and they shot a 198, we shot a 222. We played the back nine at OCC where Skyler Henry was the medalist shooting a 43, followed by Neeley Peterson 44. Then rest of the Dragons scorers was: Abby Bielby-53 and Emily Wilson-58. Owosso was lead by Morgan Hebekeuser-54, Izzey Newbury-55, Cheyenne Hein-56, and Hannah Ardelean-57.

Owosso 187, Brandon 256 – We came home with a win against Ortonville-Brandon today at the Goodrich Country Club. We were lead by Morgan Hebekeuser shooting a 41, her personal best. Izzey Newbury-49, Cheyenne Hein-48, and Hannah Ardelean-49. Brandon was lead by Sarah Andrus shooting a 60. Looking back over our records, 187 is the best team score we have had this far, and a NEW SCHOOL RECORD, BESTING THE PREVIOUS SCORE OF 189, SET IN 2002! 

SOCCER (BOYS’) – Owosso 7, Durand 0. Owosso Trojans boys’ soccer cruised to a 7-0 win over the Durand Railroaders to improve their season record to 6-1. Owosso outshot Durand 36-4. Brendan Ihm recorded his 5th shutout in seven games. He also recorded a goal and an assist. HIs goal came on a penalty kick in the 44th minute. Captain Sam Roose scored two goals and had two assists to lead the Trojan attack. He leads the team with five goals this season. Adam Dahl scored the opener off a great corner kick by Parker Omer. Dahl added a second goal later in the second half. Sophomore Joey Devaras also scored for the Trojans with a goal late in the first half. Michael Snow scored his first of the season with a beautiful run up the left side off of a feed from Trajan Smith. He dribbled the ball deep into the 18 and deposited past the Railroader keeper. Once again the back line of Trajan Smith, Zach Crane, Parker Omer and Jacob Wood played superbly.

Owosso 8, Waverly 0 – The Owosso Trojans Boys soccer team improved to 7-1 on the season with an 8-0 victory over the Waverly Warriors. Owosso outshot Waverly 39-2 and Brendan Ihm recorded his 6th shutout of the season. It was Ihm’s fourth shutout in a row. He has only allowed 3 goals on the season. Sam Roose led Owosso with 3 goals. Roose leads the team with 8 goals on the season. Trajan Smith recorded a goal and an assist. Also scoring for the Trojans were Devyn Baker scored his first and Garrett Feinauer, Michael Snow and keeper Brendan Ihm with their second goals of the season. Roose scored a goal on a beautiful cross from Noah Jafri in the second half. John Meihls, Colin Drury and Jacob Wood also scored assists.

OWOSSO 1, MT. PLEASANT 0 – The Owosso Trojans Boys Soccer team improved to 8-1 on the season with a 1-0 victory over Mt Pleasant. Owosso outshot Mt. Pleasant 12-3. Brendan Ihm recorded his 7th shutout of the season and 5th in a row! His GAA is down to a minuscule 0.33 with 3 goals allowed in 9 games. Michael Snow scored the winner after he scored on a chip shot to the far post from Andrew Bushard. Snow has three goals on the season now. The game was a hard fought battle. Snow’s goal in the 72′ pulled out a clutch victory for Owosso.  Owosso will travel to Holly in their first Flint Metro League Conference match.

SWIM & DIVE (GIRLS’) – NO MEETS THIS WEEK.

TENNIS (BOYS’) – Fell to Flushing 0-8.

Split match with Brandon 4-4.

VOLLEYBALL – No matches this week.
