Kate Jones does a great job for us of controlling the tempo of the game. Its great to see the team rewarded with a win.” said an elated Coach Graham.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL – Owosso 28, Waverly 52. The Trojans got off to a slow start and found themselves down 7-0 but played the Warriors evenly through the first three quarters. A strong fourth quarter by the Warriors provided the winning margin. Playing shorthanded and Garrett Walworth foul troubles, the Trojans fought hard but fatigue played a role in the fourth quarter run by the Warriors. Drake Nover lead the Trojans with 9 points.

Owosso 53, Charlotte 50. The Trojans found themselves down early in the first quarter 11-4 but stepped up the defensive pressure and ended the quarter on an 8-3 run capped off by a 3-pointer from the corner by Jordan Klapko as time expired. The Trojans dominated the second quarter again with solid defensive pressure and outscoring Charlotte 18-6.The second half saw a foul plagued third quarter in which the Trojans were called for nine fouls yet were able to hold Charlotte to eight points. During this quarter and the fourth, the Trojans were able to overcome many points of adversity as the Trojans lost Cole Mallory and Nate Nicevski to fouls and Garrett Walworth being limited with four fouls. Two key plays in the final minute of the game saw Garrett Walworth getting a rebound off of a missed free throw with the Trojans holding a seven-point lead. Jake Ackley was then fouled and converted one of two free throws to give the Trojans an eight-point lead. Charlotte then hit a 3-point shot to cut the lead to 50-45. Jordan Klapko was fouled and missed both free throws but Andrew Dallas made a steal on immediately and was fouled. He converted on one of the two free throw attempts to put Owosso up 51-45. Charlotte then went on a 5-0 run to cut the lead to one point with five seconds remaining. On the inbound pass, Jakob Ackley was fouled and made two free throws to provide the 53-50 margin of victory.
